Artist Guide: Improve Your Reputation

While browsing through the tattoo artists up at the top, you may notice who comes up first and their reputation points. Have you ever wondered how those artists got such a high number of points? Many artists have assumed that it means the artist with the most points has the most sales. This isn't the case. Sales definitely help get more reputation points, but there are ways to improve your reputation long before your first sale. Want to learn how to get more rep points and bring your profile higher on the list, not to mention, more visible to potential customers? Here's what to do:

1. Comment on requests. Every time you comment on a request you earn points. Not only does commenting and engaging with the customer help to get you sales, you get reputation points along the way!

2. Bid on requests. That's right, every time you bid on a request, you get points! Bidding is necessary if you want to win a request, so it's a win-win situation. Even if you don't win the request, you earn points guaranteed!

3. Add images to requests. This can mean adding the concept sketches, which are the most effective way to get the sale after the client has put down a deposit. You can also upload reference images to help get an idea of what the client likes before you start sketching, as well as example images, which are pictures of your past art to show the client what you can do. This is in addition to them looking at your portfolio. They will see the images uploaded first, and they will stay on the page, which means you are fresh on their minds every time they open their request.

After a sale, you continue to earn points with the above as well as the sale and completing each step to the final design itself. As you can see, it's easy to earn reputation points. All you have to do is be active on the site. Remember, the more rep points you have, the higher on the Tattoo Artist list you show up. The more visible you are to the requesters, the more likely you will be invited to their requests. To sum it up, the more active you are on the site, the more success you will have! It's easy, it's fun, and it helps earn you more money. Lets get more rep points everyone!

Hi um I'd really love to be a part of the site and I've put up a portfolio and everything, how will I know if I'm accepted or not?

You should get a notification email. I believe I approved you. If you don't see it in your inbox, check your spam (add support (at) tatboard.com to your contacts so it doesn't end up in the spam box again) and if you don't see it there, let me know. :)

Hi, I am also new to this site. I created my portfolio a couple days ago and the site keeps telling me to complete my profile by filling out my location. When I click the link it takes me to my homepage and there is no where to fill it out. I've put my correct time zone under settings. I'm not sure exactly how this works but I think it might be stopping me from getting approved as an artist. In the mean time I have been commenting and sketching on the board and have gotten an invite already. I don't want to lose the chance to bid because I can't find where to fill my location. Feel like such a noob. Help???

Hi Taboo, don't worry about location. It's not necessary. :)

How it Works

1

START BY CREATING A REQUEST

Tell our artists what you want
2

GET LOTS OF BIDS

Your request gets lots of bids from artists
3

PICK A WINNER

Pick the artist that impressed you the most
4

YOUR REQUEST GETS DONE!

Your artist creates your design or tattoo!
